Call for Artists - Pitt 150 Outdoor Mural

The City of Pittsburg, Kansas, is proudly celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. As part of the community-wide celebration, the City has commissioned a mural that will commemorate Pittsburg's rich heritage and enduring legacy. The mural will be displayed on a prominent exterior wall in the heart of downtown, generously donated by a long-standing Pittsburg family in support of this lasting community tribute.

The mural shall honor the businesses, educational institutions, and cultural heritage that have served as the foundation of Pittsburg, celebrating the places that have shaped our community over the past 150 years.

Reference materials, including historical images, site photographs, and scaled wall drawings, are available for download on this page. Applicants are encouraged to review all materials before developing their proposal.

The mural should be executed in a representational style that is timeless in appearance.  The artwork should feature the community’s history and heritage. The overall design should be visually engaging from a distance while rewarding closer viewing with historical detail.
